Ok, my paitence is turning very thin right now. My tank turned 7 weeks old, and when i tested a few days ago my tank still hasn't quite finnished cycling, the test results from a few days ago were nitrite 0.05, ammonia, .25, and nitrate 5.0. My tank has started a small green hair algae bloom so i think my cycling is about over.

I was going to add a clean up crew first but their kind of expensive, and with the blue flasher wrasse only being $36, i would be able to afford one.

Would the flasher be able to tolerate these readings? The other fish i plan to get is a royal gramma, and a pair of black and white clownfish.

Shouldn't your ammonia levels be zero? Ammonia then Trites then trates all peaking and then zeroing out, thats how I understood it????
Sorry to hear its taking so long-I know the pain.
I did not know about the deli shrimp or at least got laughed at when I asked about it locally-so I used Damsels like I have always done in the past.

Anyway one thing I added that helped inmy opinion was 2 bottles of Instant Oceans Bio-Spira. Its nitrifying bacteria in a bottle.

Perhaps read up on it as an additional thing or ask others opinion. Not to rub it in but more as a testimonial-my 75 gallon cycled inless than 1 month.
I have used it or something similiar on every tank I have done, but again I use damsels and the bottled bacteria helps speed it up and less stress to my fishies.

    Good luck

John at reefcleaners should be able to hook you up for the same amount! +1 on getting the CUC first. Besides, I actually like watching them almost as much as the fish. You have been very, very patient so far....you are almost to the end.....don't blow it now! Come down from the ledge......LOL! Get the CUC! That way you will feel like you are putting something in the tank.

Both fish and inverts are equally sensitive to ammonia and nitrite. Unfortunatly I would really recommend holding off for a week or 2 more

Ammonia and Nitrite need to be at zero before you add anything.

i tested the tank results now, and they were still the same. I'm just getting really really frustrated now, i'll think about the bottled bacteria idea

i might be able to last one more week with nothing in the tank. I just feeling like i'm doing something wrong, i don't know why it's taking so damn long for the cycle. I haven't put anything in the tank, i rinse everything before putting it in the tank, i use ro/di water, no chemicals have ever been used. I just don't know what's going on.

i know ammonia has been at 0 once, during this entire cycle, then it went back up.
