Hey guy i was wondering how high should anyone put a 6bulb t5 fixture. i have mine set at 29" from the bottom of the tank to the bottom of the fixture.

    specs : 18x18x10
Bulbs: front to back : b+, coral+, (sfiligoi deep blue, sfiligoi super actinic blue(will soon both be changed to ati's)), coral+, b+

anyone think 29 inches is to high?

Bottom of the tank has nothing to do with the height, what is the heaight from the top of the tank, and how deep is your tank? What kind of corals do you have?

I would definitely cut the number of bulbs down to 4.6 bulbs will probably burn your coral unless you jack them up really high over the tank.(30 inches or more)

You could go 36" up and might still have problems with bleaching corals. 4 bulbs is plenty at the height you have the fixture above the corals.

hm. well does it matter if the fixture is cooled or not? because there is no fans in this fixture, and it also has a shield .
