    ;DHi there everyone,

I finally got my light fixture hung from the ceiling--here's a photo so you can see--and I feel much better that I'm able to raise and lower the fixture rather than just having it sitting on the tank, which was too close to the water surface. Anyway, I'm wondering how far off the surface should the lights be? Right now it's 6 inches. I'm planning on keeping LPS corals in there. The tank is open, and I'm working on making a new mesh top out of bird netting--the one that's there now came out kind of crappy. If anyone can help me out I'd really appreciate it. You guys are the greatest!

the only correct answer will depend on a par meter, specific corals need specific ranges of par, without a meter there is no way to know if there is to much or not enough light.

Looks like you have a lot of good equipment and should not have avy trouble supporting most corals. 6 to 8 inches is very good.
