how high should overflow pipe be?

    i was wondering if the overflow pipe has to go all the way to the top. or can it be inch lower than overflow box strainers?

    As long as it's below the strainers, I believe you'll be fine.

    I have mine set about half an inch lower than the strainers so surface scum is pulled off better..
