I'm setting up a 20L and just picked up a 24" 6 bulb 24W fixture It has 3 ATI Aquablue bulbs, and 3 ATI Blueplus bulbs in it + six dimable led moonlamps in it. Any ideas on a good starting height on hanging this above the tank? Also what would you guys suggest for bulb combinations when I decide to replace them?

    Thanks

I would place it about 12" above the tank. I would buy 3 ATI blue Plus, 2 ATI Aquablue Specials and 1 ATI Purple Plus at replacement time.

Still looking into the Par bulbs but these will at least get me started so I can get tank up week after next. These should be suffent to grow about anything in 20L shouldn't they.

Oh yeah, you will need to protect many LPS and softies from the light or they may lose color due to photo inhibition.

That's what I was thinking when I got em. The current bulbs in it have about 3-4 months on them so far so I know it won't be long and I'll have to replace them but pretty sure by then I'll have the Par bulbs up, this was a temp purchase to go ahead and get tank up and going with a decent fixture without having inadiquate lighting. It's an older tek fixture with modded dimable led's for moonlamps for $50.00 I feel it was a very good deal with the ATI Bulbs in it.

This is going to end up being Frankentank because I have got stuff from all over the place and have really got some deals between Craigslist, other people, and now the local Petco is getting ready for their $1 a gallon sale so I'm going to go ahead and pickup the 20L and a spare 40B, and 20L for future setup tank and sump.

Great deal, the bulbs should last up to another 8 or 9 months.
