I saw a display in my LFS and it had various types of T5's from Wave Point Technologies for only $7.00 each. I was wondering if anyone has ever had any experiences with them? The price scares me as I'm used to paying an average of $21 each for the ATI and UVL brand. Just curious...

from a few "t5 guru's" if you will on RC the only T5 bulbs to buy are ATI, UVL, GE and Geissman (sp) I try and stick to a combo of ATI and GE.

I wouldn't worry about them on a softy tank, probably OK on an LPS tank, not comfortable with them for SPS.

This is where I originally got my T5 information. I sent The Grim Reefer at RC a message and he told me which bulbs to get. ATI, UVL and GE combo. I have 8 lights X two fixtures and it cost me over $300 to replace them but I still have them working for a year now. They looked good today when I checked them.

Not sure about the quality of the bulbs or the reflector or the ballasts. No fan to cool the bulbs and ballasts.

I'm just concerned with their bulbs for my fixtures.

You may want to look into LEDs. 4 Ecoxotic Modules would cost $400.00 and last over 5 years. At 5 years that's only $80.00 a year.

I am currently using 4 of them on my 75g reef tank and have for the last 6 months. I have a total of 8 bulbs and am using 2 ATI and 2 UV bulbs in conjunction with the 4 wave points.

I have not had any issues at all and haven't seen any changes in growth patterns or color changes in my corals so I would have to say that they are fine, IMO.

Although I have to say I have not seen then that cheap anywhere else, they usually run about 13 to 15 dollars a piece for the 54w versus the 19 to 27 you pay for the others brands.

I am using 2 WavePoint Sun Wave HO T5 Fluorescent Lamps Super Daylight 12,000°K and 1 Coral Wave HO T5 Lamp420nm actinic and red light blend bulbs and 1 WavePoint Reef Wave HO T5 Fluorescent Lamps 03 actinic/420nm light.

I am putting together another lighting system using 6 - 36" bulbs and 3 workhorse 5 ballasts and expect to use nothing but these bulbs. This will be going on my frag tank in the next couple of weeks.
