    I found a Nova Extreme 8 x 54w T5HO with 4 white led's for a little over 300. How good will this be for my 65g?

That will be some insane light! 8 bulbs over a 65!!! Wow. That would make a good SPS tank. You prolly won't be able to make many softies happy with that light.

Contrary to what most people think, most softies, cladella, capnella, sarcophytons and so on, handle WAY more light than SPS. Its your mushroom that will suffer with the intense light.

What is the width of the tank? You might be paying to light the ends of the tank if it isn't >18"...
Does that model have the single parabolic reflector or does it have SLRs or better individually contoured reflectors. Some of the Extremes now have the Pros reflectors some still have the one big one. If it isn't SLRs forget it.

I'm keeping a crocea clam in a 75gal under a 6x54 Nova extreme pro... you should be fine.

And yes.. that does seem like a good price
