    How long after a water change do i run a test?

    I don't really think there is a set time limit. I usually wait a few hours as I think if I wait too long then the test might be skewed as my corals will start using the big three and I want to have as accurate reading as possible.

    I guess do what you feel comfortable with.

    I also like to wait one day. I dont know too much about the relationship between calcium and alkalinity, for example, but I like to wait 24 hours so that the calcium has had enough time to relate itself to the pH and Alk levels.

    I'm trying to go off of memory here...

    I think I've noticed on the back of the bottle of purple up it says check calcium a hour after dosing or something to that nature. I would've assume you should wait longer on testing stuff, but who knows how accurate the information on products like purple up is.

    I use aged saltwater in my changes so I wait maybe an hour at most since everything is going to be dissolved fully and balanced out in my new water. I just give it a little while to mix up thoroughly a few times through the sump and then test. I don't like waiting too long because if my levels get messed up that's more time for everything spent with parameters that are off.
