How long before I can add fish?

Been fishless for a month now. Due to a Velvet outbreak. How long do I need to waite before adding fish? Some say 4 weeks some say 7. What's my friends on 3Reef say?

What are your params at? If your params are good and the tank looks good, you should be okay to add a clown or something.

 

My parameters are fine. It's more along knowing the life cycle of Velvet. I don't want it to find a new host and have to start all over again.

I dont have expeirence with velvet so i wouldnt now what it really is.

as most articles I have read, and re visited since seeing your post
indicate that the life cycle of marine velvet Oodinium is very similar to the life cycle of marine Ich
I would suggest minimum of 6 weeks for a tank to remain fallow
and that should mean any fish added are done so after the last remaining traces of the parasite have lived out their life cycle
