I would get some type of powerhead to move the water around.

do you have a powerheads or anything for water flow? I used to run a tank with no filter and just a powerhead and heater with no problems for a year

Maybe I'm reading your post wrong, but it sounds like you filled the tank with freshwater with the intent to add salt directly into the aquarium.

If you added freshwater before adding the salt, you don't have any live sand anymore.

You'll want a powerhead in there anyway. If it just sits, probably nothing will happen. Maybe a little freshwater cycle from the dead livesand, but that will re-cycle when you add salt.

I think you'd have been better off mixing the salt with the water before adding to the tank but that's done now.

Dont worrt about the mistake. Its the best way to learn what not to do. Im always alittle leary of live sand or similar products. Once the tank has cycled get a cured piece of live rock or if your lfs will sell you a cup or two of live sand ( from their tank). You wont need that much to re seed your sandbed.
