I see all these beautiful tanks covered in purple coralline algae. My tank has been up and running for 4 months almost and there's non signs of it anywhere. My tank has lots of life including pods bristle worms. My fish are very healthy and my corals are doing great as well.

What type of light are you using? You can use a piece of live rock from a friend I hate to say Lfs to some what seed your tank but keep in mind you chance bringing other things into you tank that you might not want. Do you know where your magnesium is? If it's in check you can push the Calcium up to around 500 depending on what you have in the tank.

Also if you need to seed you could look for snails with coraline on their shells.

Not sure on mag level I have yet to order a test kit. I actually do have very tiny spots of coraline algae on some of my rocks and one of my snails but there's only maybe 10-15 spots about the size of half a pencil.

Guess I'm just getting over anxious seeing all these tanks with wonderful purple algae.

It does take time but I understand the feeling of wanting to see more of it :)

I was lucky with my first tank. My rocks got completely purple in about two months.

Although I had no idea what I was doing. my buddy was always jealous because he had his tank.

I've read dosing magnesium, or something called purple up.

Folks, you just have to let nature take it's course.

This, this is the way to do it.

Don't dose purple up because you can't test what you're dosing.

My tank is approaching two years old, my coralline growth comes and goes. I scrape most of it off but my rocks get it.
Keep THE BIG THREE in the zone and you'll naturally get it.
Nothing good in this hobby comes quickly.
