i have to agree with you BaugherB. I was going to get a 120gal setup from someone that is like 40 miles away from me, but when i told him i was just starting SW he said he didnt trust me with it, i was PO'd. The tank didnt even have livestock in it. So i wen to petco and looked around. Was gonna get a 75gal but parents said that a 55gal would be more appropriate, they regret that decision once they realized how marvelous a marine tank is. I also picked up "the Simple Guide to Marine Aquariums", and read that on a trip to virginia, i also had a copy of DFS's catalogue (the one that had livestock from livewaquaria in it) an marked all the fish i could maintain (after researching online). Filled it up and bought most of my equip on EBAY and picked up my first fish after coming back from boyscouts camp last summer. My first fish were a clownfish, a firefish, and 3 chromis and my first corals were two frags both with brown zoas and 1 with a florida ricordia (which is about 3X the size when i first got it). To my dismay, 1 of the chromis had fish fungus and expired. While trying to save her i found 3reef, god bless it. Someone here might remember my first thread, "Chromis Mouth Fungus" and the next, "Sump-pump-trouble". Ever since, my tank has been prospering and the equip upgraded. Whenever people asked what kind of fish i was going to keep and i said slatwater with some corals, they frowned and said "why not some goldfish". I still laugh at them and i showed them off with my ability to maintain my tank and have healthy livestock and growing corals. And im still PO'd at the guy who wouldnt sell me the 120gal :(. Whenever my parents throw a party, i have the majority of them in the basement asking about the new stuff i got and everything else. I have to thank everyone at 3reef for helping me with my tank and Matt Rogers for maintaining the website we have all come to love and cherish (to the point that we go on it a bout 5 times a day, lol.

When I started I went the simplest route. 12gal nano, cured rock, premixed water the whole route..... I did have my problems, but with freshwater I was always treating my tank for something.....I soon found out the smaller the tank the more of a hassle...I should of went bigger first...

John ( blows raspberry at Annick ).

At least it's not like the Antarctic here :)

BTW, do you know why pursing you lips and making a sound is called a raspberry?
