I am wondering how long I can keep premixed SW. I have a large 35 g bin and I keep my SW in there, most of the time half of the water is left after a water change.

What I'm wondering is, if it is ok to just keep adding to that water?

I have another bin too, and sometimes the water sits for a month before being used.

I always have a pump running in each of the bins, and also no light.

Test always show up normal, but I just want to make sure.

I did notice somethings growing in the bin, I'll have to make a microscope slide to find out exactly what's floating in the water.

Bin tested .2 nitrite, guess that answers that question.

I know you can store nsw (natural saltwater) in containers with a lid on it.

If its covered and kept somewhat dark and is circulated then it has a very long shelf life. Also a .2 NO'2 is nothing to worry about . And what you see is bacteria. Its everywhere :)
