    Hello guys

I have an 8 gallon Biocube. the stock lighting is:

    18W 10K Daylight (9")
    18W Actinic 03 Blue (9")

I have an anemone, 2 clowns, 3 crabs and 3 snails in there now.

I have heard that the anemone requires quite a bit of lighting. is the stock lighting sufficient? I want to try to stick with this if its possible. How many hours should I leave the light on per day?

I have been leaving it on for 10-12 hour days for the past week. More green algae have grown, and I want to know if i can cut down the hours of lighting.

    THANKS!

try getting some cleaners for your tank they might eat all the algae build up. also try criculating the water more. and anemones do take lots of light i dont think what u have is strong enough. the anemone wont die from one day to the next but in about 2 months hell slowly die over 2 months and then eventually die. i leave my lights on for 6-8 hours too much light is bad for your fish. i hope this helps you im a beginer myself.

i forgot if u feed your fish to much then algae will begin to build up feed your fish once everday or once everyother day. that way you dont over feed and thatll help less algae build up

I would not drop your light period down below 8 hours a day. 10 to 12 is the best.

Now you should have enough light for an anemone, but anemone's need very good water quality, and they need to be feed. What species of anemone do you have in your tank?

On the algae, it sounds like you need more clean up crew, and a better way of managing nutrients. Nano tanks can be very hard to keep algea free, since most do not have fuges or skimmers.

What I would suggest to you is more water changes, with good very low nutrient water. You can also do a few mods and put a small fuge into one of the back compartments on the tank with either submersible lights, or a light on the back of the tank.

Pc and T5 refer to specific types of lighting. Pc stands for power compact. These are bulbs that are folded back on themselves with all the connectors on one end of the bulb.

T5 bulbs are a straight bulb that is 5/8 of an inch in diameter.

In this instance the type of lighting really does not make any difference since there is not a good reflector involved. But your bio cube has 2 pc bulbs in it
