How long should MH be on for????

    Test your water, see if any parameters are out of whack. Everything from SG to Mag.

    did last weekend when this all started to happen.. perfect everything temp 77, salinity, 1.025 everything eles where it is suppose to be!

    i will try to go to my lfs tomorrow. How important is calcium level and magnisum??? They have never checked that, only the basics. I just found out about calcium levels and this stuff and sketched over it???

    test your water. something is out of whack. do you have any cheato? a sump? cover the tank in total darkness for a few days and let the cheato suck up the nutrients. run a 24 hour light on the cheato. then cut the cheato in half and give it away. export your nutrients.

    i have bio balls no cheato but might pick some up. What do you guys think of that?????

    is it a reef set up? fish only? live rocks? i say remove the bio balls they are nitrate magnet.

    Don't remove them all at once if you do, or you'll cause a mini cycle. Remove about 1/3 at a time, give a week between each removal.

    Get a set of test kits for yourself, too. You really need to have test kits for nitrates, phosphates, calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, and pH. Don't rely on the fish store when it comes to test kits.
