I have a Zoanthid colony which I ordered from Foster & Smith in the tank for nine days now and they still haven't opened up. It's not a placement issue in that they are next to my existing Zoanthids which are very happy. I noticed yesterday that some of the polyps are falling off the rock they came on.

I'm considering removing them from the tank, but reluctant (~20 polyps). Anyone have any advise as to an appropriate amount of time to give them?

It all depends. Did you dip the zoanthid colony since receiving it?
May have zoanthid eating nudibranches affecting it or other parasites etc.
Hopefully they didn't sell you a sick colony!
They should have begun to open up by now!

Yes - I did dip them. I use a combination of Tropic Marin Pro-Coral Cure and Revive Coral Cleaner - I mix them with water which I took out from my water change. I soak in the mix for fifteen minutes and double rinse in two separate containers of the same water from the change. I have done this with all my corals and had great success. You can see in the pic I added that the zoanthid colonies next to it are thriving.

    Gave up on them today

Well - after another two of the polyps took flight today. Gave up on the colony and removed it from my tank . The minute they leave the rock, they get chopped by my MP40s which is not good. I can't take a chance on them creating a problem with the rest of the tank.
