how long will the tank survive...

    without live rock? i want to switch tanks. i want to get the new one up and running using all my cured rock out of my old tank. can i leave the sand bed and the 2 fish and be ok? i have a watchman and barred sleeper goby. also got some zoas, green star polyps, a couple fetaher dusters and glove polyps.all the corals i plan on leaving on the rock they are on till the switch. would this be ok to do?

    They should be fine for a while. Just test and do your water changes accordingly and don't take your time on it. Do it as quickly as possible

    thats the plan. i will be keeping several smaller rocks in it, just wanted to make sure before i do make any changes.

    How big is your tank? Both new and old.

    the new tank is new. taking someone elses perfectly running 20g and adding my 10g in to make a 30. only difference is i have fish and he doesnt. his tank is a couple years old, mine is about 6 months.

    i just want to wait a couple days before i start putting all my stuff into it, just to make sure it doesnt cycle, which i highly doubt it will.

    it will probably have a small cycle anyways. considering you have to move the sand and it will be disturbed and cause waste to be put in the water. I moved my tanks w/o adding anything and still had some small cycles. Nothing major, but there is a technique to it.

    10-4. i'm kinda debating just going ahead and getting all new sand/rock, and letting it cycle on its own. i found some rocki like better today, so im still trying to decide.
