How long with out electricity?

Good to know that the temp is the main thing. We have frequent power outages, yet dont really do anything for temp anyways. Its just about perfect just on its own in our house.

 

if you live in florida (like me) with a power outage...too HIGH of a temp becomes a concern; so i would just do what my mom suggested. float bags of ice, and make sure it doesn't get too cold. I just bought a ups (uninterrupted power supply); should run my 28 gallon and all of its equipment for up to ten hours (equipment is about 140 watts, UPS runs 900 watts for 100 minutes i think), and being that the light takes up alot of that power, I could probably stretch it out longer than that. Picked it up at best buy, automatically kicks in when the power source shuts off. I found Geek squad's brand to be the most time/power for your buck. Ran out and bought it when Fay became interested in florida

 

and p.s. A LOT cheaper than a generator

yup, tested, turned my power off several times and it kicks on just fine, ran it for about an hour before turning the power back on
