how long

so i was just reading another post on here and it got me thinking about my lights. i have actinics on for 12 hours and my whites or days on for 10. i am not having any algae problems or anything like that a little cyno not sure how to spell that. but not bad. so i think they are fine but is that to much time.

 

i believe thats fine. i have actinic 12 and day 9 and its working alright for me. i believe most reefers go for 11-13 total length. MH prolly a lil less.

 

I have the same question. My MH coming in the mail tomorrow and I am wondering how long to run for a 30g.

 

i have a 150w over a 29g(so almost he same) I run it for 8 hours(day) and acnitc for 9. It is working for me, i have good color on the corals and no problems.

But when you get your new lights, make sure you aclimate them. Cut your daylight to about 4 hours a day for a week, then up it a half hour every week.

So for example

Week 1-Daylight runs for 4 hours a day
Week 2-Daylight runs for 4.5 hours a day
Week 3-Daylight runs for 5 hours a day
Week 4-....Yeah, you get the idea? haha.
