how many " above the water ?

    I'm working on the hood for my 90G now and I'm wondering how many " most people put there T-5s above the water ? Thanks for the help .

    Mine are above the water with no top and no legs. This is not a good idea and it is temporary until I get some new lighting very soon.

    Yea my question is how many inches above the water line should the lights bulbs be . I made the hood with plenty of room so I could position the ligts where they needed to be . I was going to put a couple of MH's in with the T-5's but that will have to wait I'm going to use 4 T-5's and 2 VHO for now .

    I think he means this so that " = inches

    As in "how many inches above the water"


    Mine are about three inches or so - I'm using the legs.

    I use the legs that came with mine that put the light 3 inchs above the top of the tank . I also found that the legs wont let me open the glass on top to feed . I have to move the light to do anything in the tank .
