I'd guesstimate 6" from the rim gives me somewhere between 25 and 30. That's just based on how long it lasts from that point, but I've never measured exactly.

Actually, unless I'm missing something it's a bit more complex than that. The Brute's diameter (round) is larger at the top than at the bottom. And, if you look at the construction of the can you will also see that it will not lend itself to any straightforward formula... but I'll let the math nerds way in on that one. Your formula is fine for a rectangular object, e.g., tank.

Why make things more difficult? Fill it to a pre-determined line and count the number of cups of salt it takes to bring it to 1.025
Maybe i missed the point of why you are asking but that's what I do..

Good guess! I measured 25 gallons to the top of the ridge, 6" down from the rim.

Don't forget to take into consideration water temperature and altitude. Each can affect water density and throw off the calculation:cheesy:

Without a doubt! Life just isn't fun without a little humor.... besides, it's good for me not to take myself so seriously. 8) Anyway, someone ought to come up with a calculator for Brute trash cans! ::)
