    Setting up a 75 gal with a 40 breeder I'm going to make into a sump/fuge.

    Suggestions on the return pump?

    Thanks!

Depends, do you want the pump to handle just your return, or also supply your skimmer Ca reactor, etc...?

It will just be for the return I think.

The burning question in my mind is, how fast do I want the water to flow through the fuge?

The goal is to get around 10x plus or minus turnover from sump to DT and back. You could get away with little less, say a 600GPH capacity overflow and then outfit with a Mag 7 or a Rio 2100 return. That would give you around 525GPH or more at arond 4'. That would suffice IMO. That's what I did for my 75g.

well first, do you have a drilled tank or HOB overflow? If you have an HOB overflow, you will need to get a pump that is less than the gph of the overflow. As for the fuge, it should be about the size of your tank in gallons, divided by 10, So a 55 would have 5.5 gph flow through a fuge.
