I got a 40gallon package of cleaners...I'd hate to have my tank filled with too many big snails. How many is good enough? Thanks

    I have a 54g corner tank.

You're fine with what you got. You could probably put in more and be ok.

I agree, you could also add some dwarf ceriths to the the mix, they are very good "nook and cranny"cleaners.

I bought that package for my 40ga and then bought another 100 dwarf ceriths. Those things are awesome! As long as you don't clean too much on the glass you provide food for these little guys. I have a snail army :)

Good to hear. I was worried I may have to many for my 72. With my shipment en-route I will have about 100 snails.

    Snails & 125g Tank

    hello,
I have a 125g saltwater, soft coral, live rock, feather dusters, clown fish, 3 hermit crabs, 2 green crabs, sandsifting star, slug and a yellowtip damsel. How many and what type of snails are recommended/suggested? I've had some but I think the star ate them and the hermits ate the ones that couldn't turn themselves over =(
    help & thank you

Er, quite a few. Ask @ reefcleaners.org, he'll build you a whole custom clean up crew.

I would get a variety...dwarf ceriths, florida ceriths, some blue hermits, nassarrius vibrex, nerite(both big & small). I'd say maybe 250 of those guys, at least. Also, get lots of assorted shells for the crabs. For my 29g, I will have about 70 snails/crabs.
