how should I have them positioned? I have the lone powerhead facing towards the surface to agitate the water for better gas exchange. I was wondering do I need to break up the suface if I have a corner overflow?

If you are buying Koralias today go for the new Evolution series. They are smaller, way more energy efficient, quieter and best of all are controller friendly so can be switched on and off repeatedly with no ill effects unlike the regular K series.
I switched from two K4's to two Evo 1400's, gained more flow, more room, quieter and cut power from 15w each to 6 watts each.
