how many watts can a halide have?

    I'm going to put that 18000 watt bulb over my 40g and discover the new life forms that i'm sure will appear. I'll just have to figure out how to keep the water from boiling ;)

    That wattage is for industrial use. Warehouse use and out door lighting. But it would be neat to see if one could be used in the home aquarium. Cause ya got to wear shades lol, as the water boils over.
