I have a 90g DT and a 38g Sump/Fuge. I am drilling the 90g and buying the kit from Glass-Holes.com. The first kit is the 700 that is 700-750 gph or the 2nd kit 1500 that is 1500 gph.
I have a fish only tank for now and wnated to know if the 1500 gph would be to much?
Plus the 1500 is 2 1.5 holes. So if one slows or stops up (snail etc.) I won't end up with a overflow.

Let me know if anyone has any good advice.!

    thanks!

I would do about 6 or 7 times volume of the DT. Some say 4-5x. Others say 10x. I am a middle of the road kind of guy. You want to give the skimmer and fuge (if there is one) time to work over the water.

So would you suggest then the 700gph? I was thinking if I did the 1500 gph I would put on line right back into the pump return with a partial feed off to my fuge side, and then the other line to the skimmer area...?

This is the sump I am going to copy. (except in a 38g) Skimmer/ return/ fuge.

I just got my 700 kit from glass-holes.com and Im very impressed with it. Mine is for my 30 gallon DT with 20gal sump&fuge. I would go with the 1500 if I were in your shoes.
If you have any questions call them and ask for mike, he helped me with every aspect and even called back to answer other questions I was bound to ask..
They make a good product and even send candy with their kits for you to take the occasional break while drilling..;D

anyways with my system I am running the 700 gph with a Mag 9.5 return pump. I believe that Im really running about 600 gph through my system and it seems to be sufficient for now.

I do think I am going with the 1500 for the security of having 2 holes. I will probably just run some of the water off back to the return area so the flow is not carzy in the sump.

With large overflows like that you might have a lot of noise and bubbles. I did when I increased my plumbing. You are already half way there if you want to do a Herbie style overflow. I love mine.

Wow, I am confused just reading all of that! lol!
I wish Glass Holes had a box that was llike 1000 gph with 2 holes, but they don't. 1,500 just seems like to much.

Hell, I finally looked up your stuff at their site and I didn't even realize this was an overflow box. My bad. Carry on.

Agreed, I pass about 450gph (6x) through my sump, seems to work very well for me.

After reading what everyone thinks I think I will go with the 700. The 1500 is just to much. I wish they had something a little bigger but 700 will be fine.

    thanks all!
