I have a biocube 29, that has some mushrooms and other really small, unidentified, soft corals in it, there seems to be decent flow with just the return pump on, when I use my koralia nano it seems like they all get blasted no matter where I put it. It is as though the added current just blows them around too much. Am I being overly protective or is this a problem?

lots of flow is good for a coral, unless its so much that the polyps are getting damaged then theyre fine. but it they arent fir,ly planted they will float away

try putting in the middle about 4" from the top and point it at the surface and let it come down the front of the glass, that may break up some of the current and will make a kinda wave effect..

unless you have like a 800GPH wavemaker..

if it look like the mushrooms are about to take off in flight its prolly too much, for softies you want them to move ever so gently..but they can tolerate a little more flow than that..

i have 500gph powerhead in my 30gallon, just like the way i told you about and its just right for my tank, mixed reef..some corals have lots of flow, and others have little flow, you may just need to find your lower flow spots, but if you dont have any you may want to get a smaller powerhead.

it just depends on the exact set up and what corals are being kept, i have a turn over rate of 90x in my tank, that up there and my corals are fine. i dont have any experience with mushrooms so i cant help there. try and point the power head at the front or side glass this will disperse the flow better.

i have the koralia nano and return pump in my 8 gal (no mods) depending on your rock set up, i would put it in the back right hand corner about 1" almost 3/4" from the surface, have it point up left as far as it can go. then point the return pump head down towards the center of the tank
