Situation: HOB CPR 'fuge with a skimmer. Factory MaxiJet1200 pump.
Problem#1: Pump screams night and day from air cavitation in impeller.
Solution #1: Removed air line to pump, put airstone in bottom of PS.

Prob #2:MaxiJet without air infiltration now flows at full rated 400+GpH, tremendous amount of bubbles geting to DT (big and micro).
Solution#2: temporarily plugged inlet to MaxiJet, restricting flow to a 3/16" hole.

Problem #3: MaxiJet now noisy again and draws significantly more electrical current.

Question: How much flow (in gph) does a small 3Gal HOB fuge need? I want to replace the MJ with a small Rio that can flow freely and not cause the DT to be a jacuzzi.
