Same and im in college. My girlfriend keeps yelling at me that I cant afford it. I used to have 2 55gallon freshwater with live plants in them. I also have a bearded dragon, a camelion, breed crickets, and have a cat. She thinks im crazy... I just love animals. Now that I went to salt water... man wheres my money lol. I was like ill start slow but you cant do that and have friends that work at fish stores....

I voted 1000 cause thats about what i got going with my 20gal maybe more. I've had bigger tanks in the past so its just exponential. I've been in saltwater for 10 years, i dont even want to know how much cash i put up in this hobby ever since i started.

At least yours tries to stop you... I have to check on mine when we go to the LFS cause she doesnt have any control either. She dont care, i'm paying for it;)

    Marc.

I think Phil is gaging interest to offer the new super duper reefer VISA card....:tongue4: LOL
I'm in the same boat with Jason and Blade.....Too short on the zeros and please don't remind me. On the upside it's snowing out and I have a piece of the tropics in the house.

You know, this really should be how much coin do you drop annually on this silly hobby and how many years have you been doing it. The cost of the tank is a just a portion of the overall expenses. It certainly has its ups and downs, but the total expenses look like a J curve to me. Between, corals, clams, fish, salt, electricity, food, supplements, bulbs, etc. etc. etc for 3 tanks I've got to be spending a couple hundred a month. Next there is the down stroke for the tanks, stands, lights, filters, rocks, sand. I'm guessing that part is around $7 to $8k. You know, if I think about it, I probably have over $15 large into fish over the years.

Damn, that is 3 track bikes. Or a new Aprilia or Ducati. Or 1/2 a used Corvette Z06. What am I thinking...?:tongue4:

Yeah, Im glad the beginning costs are over, however, I keep finding more and more to add.... And for some reason I want bigger and more? :p
