Hey Adicus....I have two 6" 200 micron socks in the sump. What do you consider "proper movement" thru the sump? Not to fast but not to slow? lol...thats not very clear, sorry I don't know how else to explain it.

With that size sock, you should not have any issues - proper movement for me was to have the overflow push the water through the sock trapping unwanted items. With the sock overflowing, the filtration it provides is defeated. I assume that with two 6" socks, you have no other bottle necks in the sump which might cause a backup with the higher flow of water.

I prefer 10-15 times turnover through the sump - I'm just a little over 10. I also have an MP40 w/Gen2 driver in the main tank. Running it in Long Pulse mode. NOTE: My tank is also very new - in cycling process.

im jealous i want my mp40w!

i have a 200micron sock on my input to the sump from the overflow as well. it causes no problems currently at 900GPH. at 1300GPH it shouldnt either from what my LFS told me when i bought it. i wanted to make sure i wasnt buying something that wouldnt work when i upgraded my pump later on. good to know that 100micron cant handle more than 1000GPH based on what you said.

bje - please note that mine is a 4" sock not a 6" sock. If it were the 6", it would probably have handled the 1750gph that my LFS originally specified.

I upgraded to a quietone 5000 it puts out around 1550 gph (there is about 4' of head pressure so it is around 1100gph) and added a third koreila which makes a #5, a #3 and a #4. I also upgraded the overflow box because the max on the one I had was 900gph with only one down tube. The new one has two. I hope its not too much. Fish are freaking out a little, but I guess they just have to get used to the flow, all params fine.
