So I just got in my Phosban Reactor poured in about 100ml of pellets to go on the low side for my tank just in case. And I got them tumbling with a Maxi-jet 1200 going all out. Now is this too fast? I've ready you want a slow tumble and other say you want vigorous tumbling? I'm almost afraid to restrict the Maxi-jet Yes I can handle more pressure because it can push 6 feet of head but when i adjust the ball valve it makes it louder, will the added back pressure cause one of the tube fittings to pop loose? I have the unit set up as hang on back so if a fitting goes on the pump side I've got water all over the wall and the room.

sounds like you have it set-up fine to me.

If you plan on letting it run more slowly than just add a longer piece of flew tube. This will slow the pessure entering the reactor becuase the pump has to move the water a further distance.

Hmm My water Is starting to cloud up a little, i've read this is a precursor to an algae bloom, should I do a water change or force the skimmer to skim wetter? or would a light out period be best?

Brs tv has a nice vid on this, they say to have a only enough flow to suspend the pellets, not to tumble too hard because the pellets will grind them self down. is your reactor a two little fishes? i have two and have the same problem. i keep mine in my sump, but looking to upgrade.

the 1200 is a powerful pump... i ran mine with a minijet 600 and it did great...as you know you might want to run it for a hour on and a hour off or so ... if you have sps you can bleach them if your not careful.. i did one time because i took out the phosphates to0 quickly...

I don't have SpS my lights wont support them bu good to know about the tumbling, yes I have the two little fishies reactor. Go figure everyone says a Maxi-jet 1200 is ideal for it. I'll try and tune it down but It just makes the pump louder.

if you bought the pump new and can exchange it i would i would go with a 900 or even a 600.. nothing personal but why pay extra watts for something you dont have too LOL... if you bought it used than i wouldnt worry about it..

my favorite pump for maxijets is the 900 series it puts out almost the same amount of flow as the 1200 at nearly half the watts....

i know its not much.. but i find out that every little thing counts...

i just went around with a killowatt meter around the house .. you would be surprised at how much electricity things use LOL.. and all were doing is fattening the wallets of the electric company LOL
