so with all the talk about how everyone changes water in their systems, how much is too much ? As i do 20 gallons a week. so am i messing with the bio diversity of my system?
I always thought that wc's are done to replenish as well as rid ur system of wastes. my over all system volume is 240 gallons and I change 20 a week so is this too much ?

That's just a bit over 8%. I see no problem with that. I do weekly wc of 20%, but I might lower mine down to 10% weekly.

I do 20-50g a month depending on my mood lol.... Generally around 30g a month though. It really I gage it out things are doing in the tank. Or if ive been over feeding as of lately.

I use to do ~20% (25g) WC bi-weekly. But lately I've been busy so I've been doing ~30g/monthly and I don't see any difference in my system/parms (negative nor positive).

Antdizzle - your inhabitants will be the best judge of your water change quantity and regularity

does not sound to much to me , if my tank was 240 gallons, I would probably do the same as its an easy and convenient number ( having 20 gallon brewers bucket myself and 5 gallon water dispenser bottles that have my RODI in )

If you are really worried I would use high quality salt mix like bioassay and I wouldn't worry about it.
I already said my view in the other thread that any damage from WC(excluding large ones that swing parameters) comes from heavy metal laden salt mixes.
