Chaeto needs both nutrients (nitrates, phosphate and other) and light to thrive. 19W or 23W Compact florescent bulb (daylight) is sufficient as far as the light is concern.

As was stated just a compact flourescent light will work. Nothing to fancy. The stuff grows like a weed once it takes off. I can't even give the stuff away.

Here is the exact light I use in a 10g sump. Put it in a cheap $5 Walmart Clip-On Reflector and BAM! $15 Chaeto light PAR38 Reflector 19 Watt / 5100K: Light Bulbs Etc, Inc.

Forgot to say you can easily find a bulb like this from a lighting store, or even Lowe's, Home Depot or the like.....
