How much light per day?

    I have a 55G tank that's been running for a little over 2 years. I recently added about 55 pounds of live rocks covered with green metallic mushrooms. How many hours a day should I leave the lights on for? I'm using standard fluourescent lights from Home Depot but will be upgrading to T5.

    I have a 55gallon tank and about 80pounds of live rock + corals. So i run mine from 9:30AM-6PM

    12-10 hours of total light. I have metal halides that I also run for 8 hours
