I have a 30 gallon and I'm going to buy live rock. I already purchased 25lb of dry rock for the base. Is 45lbs of live rock to much to add to this tank? The cost between 22lbs and 45lbs is only $9.00.

a lot depends on size/ density of the rock Junior

whilst 70lb of rock may not be excessive in terms of amount in a 30 gallon tank
it may be excessive in terms of what it leaves as swimming room

for an effective bio filter, in terms of real estate for bacteria to colonise, anywhere between 1.5 and 2lb of rock per gallon is a generally accepted guideline

thus 45 - 60 lb in total would be adequate IMO
but as stated it does depend on size also

if they are dense, heavy and thus smallish volume per weight, you may get away with 70lb in total
