How much LR/sand (dsb) for 55 gal tall

I understand the benefits of a dsb are beneficial for my tank, however I prob would want some sand sifting livestock. So.....would u say 2" or so of sand in my DT and a dsb of say 4" in my fuge would be the way to go? I was going to do a dsb in my DT until I read the link to that thread mentioned above. So confusing.....jus when i think i got a game plan something else comes up...gotta luv it!
