I was wondering how much of a roll Blue LED plays in the aquarium?

I LOVE to have my aquarium a little more blue tint to show off the colors of the corals. But before I make this my final color combo id like to know what this will do to my corals?

    Thanks

im heavy on the blue for that reason as well but I dont know the answer to your question. My guess might be that growth could slow? if you are lowering the white power to make more of a blue look?

Corals respond best to wavelengths between 400-550 nanometers and 620-700 nanometers.

    Exactly!

    Previously I was running:
    55% - Blue
    45% - White

But I have falling in love with:
    60% - Blue
    40% - White

I just talked to Mike form Rapid, he thinks the 60/40 with my current LED setup should be okay.

60/40 is about what i run on my ais.

    I think its 35 CW/ 50B / 60 RB.

I should probably start turning it up because thats rather low on the total power from the ais.

Because Orphek says so? I'm pretty sure our corals are collected in water deep enough that 620 - 700 nm is nonexhistant. I could have sworn there was a study done long ago where Dana Riddle used just red light on corals and they did not fare very well. On the otherhand we know that corals can grow just fine with light solely on 400-550 nm. Could it be that since many corals do not regularly get light at that wavelenth the don't process it as well as Clorophyll A & B in terrestrial plants?

Why do you always come across so angry? It completely ruins any sort of civil discussion.
