assuming you have rock and sand, the total volume is probably around 35 ish gallons... so i would say try 10 gallons for now, and see what impact it has..

+1 The best method is to make a few small changes rather than one big one.

While a water change will remove some of the current notrates, it does not remove the source. Tell us some further details about your tank, filtration, stocking, and feeding please.

also, i'd get a big rubbermaid tote and a small heater and pump and get alot of water ready! i try to have mine run for a day or so before adding so i can dial in the salinity! it takes a few good hours for the salt to dissolve!

    Algae- none
    Substrate- 2 inches Caribsea
    40 lbs live rock
Eheim canister- I'm going to take the remaining bio balls out and replace with Seachem matrix- I have half half right now (wanted matrix to get established instead of doing all at one time)
Just ordered my hydor slim skim rated for 65 g a couple days ago- got it for 53 bucks on eBay only six months old good deal I think

I think it's the bio balls... Can't find any detritus and I also am running purigen too. Nitrates r coming down they're at 40 now.

    Thanks
