I'm a little thrown off as to how much of either I should get given that they're both quite porous. I've got a few pounds of live rock and live sand already in the tank and I'd like to fill the remaining rock space with base rock. The tank is a 29 and, as mentioned, has maybe 3-5lbs. of live rock already in. How much volume does this stuff usually take up as compared to normal base? I was thinking 15-20lbs. of rock should do the trick but would like someone who has held this stuff to confirm. I know it's lightweight for the volume of rock you get and I'd prefer not to over-order.

A lot depends on your aquascape desires. Another 15 pounds could provide a nice reef look with some open space, 20 or more pounds with more reef and less water. You can always break the rock and use it for rubble.

I'm a believer in the "less is more" ideal so I'll probably go with the smaller amount and if I feel like it needs more, I'll buy it after the fact.

I have a full tank shot of my 75g at the top of my mantis tank build. It was 65lbs of BRS eco rocks & 35lbs of live rock and I was pretty comfortable. While I havent used any pukani it is said to be more pourous and with that takes up a little more space. I would consider around 1lbs a gallon for a pretty decent scape, so maybe 20-25lbs more.
