I was just wondering how often everyone buys salt.... I have been doing a lot of water changes trying to rid my tank of the cyano algae problem I've been having. Nitrates are 0 but I think I might be feeding too much. Anyways I have to sweep my tank again because of the algae "balls" that are EVERYWHERE on the sand bed just floating around on the surface. I am planning on having to remove 15 gal. to get everything swept and that will take a lot of salt for all the new water (about 30 gal. fresh RO/DI water needed to fill sump) I haven't had to buy salt in months but was wondering how often everyone needs salt? My entire system is 210 gal. (120DT/90 sump/fuge)

I have 3 tanks that require about 15 gallons of mix per week. Since I started last September i have gone through 2 buckets.

I had a cyano problem a couple of months back and I was doing weekly water changes (15% a shot) to try and get rid of it and I wasn't able to beat the problem until I used Red Slime Remover. Needed 2 treatments but it cleared it up and it didn't harm any of my corals either.

38g tank and I have had the same 160g bucket of Reef Crystals for over 2 years now. I probably have 65 gallons left. I usually do a water change about once every 3 months, but I wasn't using DI water, just RO. Now I have a RO/DI unit so I'm hoping to do away with water changes.

I have the 200 gallon boxes of reef crystals and it almost took 2 boxes to fill my system (225 gallon DT/50 gallon sump/30 gallon fuge. I also turned my 125 into my QT tank. I do 5% weekly water changes on both tanks so I would say about a box a month.
