how much sand is best?

Is a pound per gallon enough oolite sand?

 

i have a 30g tank and i have 25lb of sand they say about 1 inch to 1.5 inches of sand will do.

 

I like about 1 inch or so of sand for Wrasse to be able to bury themselves in

add the dimensions of you tank base, plus the depth of sand you want
and it will work out how much sand you need to buy

One more you need to consider is your rock work. Remember your rock has to go in before the sand, so this would lessen the amount of area the sand would have to cover.
