I have a classic berlin xl that I bought used, i put up other posts with no proper response so here I go again. I bought a CA18000 pump rated at 635gph that I used for a while and didnt get much, and then I read that Mag7 works better so I replaced it w/ a mag 7 and its on a 55 gallon tank. How much skimmate should I be gettin in that huge cup in lets say a week. Any body else use a mag 7 on a berlin xl, how much do you get? After a whole day and a half its barely anything in there, just some water at the bottom of the cup, maybe 1cm worth.

alot wil ldepend on how much gunk there is to yank outta the water. a cm is almost half an inch which is i think is a good amount of skimmate. when i was feedin too much , i was gettin that much in my 90. now that ive cut back, i might get that in a week.

K, I think its ok then, cuz the cup is pretty huge, its just these pictures I sometime see of people pulling out half cups in few days, unless their tanks are filthy, i just dont get it.

It's hard to really tell since every one feeds different ammount. My skimmer pulls out more with more water flowing through it also. You'll have to get to know your own setup

I've been dying to ask this question about my own tank, but I think I already know what the answer will be.:-/

"It depends on the number and size of fish and other animals, amount of liverock, type and amount of food used, how wet or dry you are skimming, etc, etc, etc ..."

More knowledgeable folks than I will surely chime in, but that's what I figured the answer would be.

That pretty much nailed it on the head. Mine, without adjusting, will give differing amounts and colors or skimmate. My last batch to come out of the overflow was very light in color and took awhile to accumulate. But I do not feed much. Now, it is darker and has accumulated faster. However, I have been feeding a little more than my twice weekly regimen and have had two fish die. So there is more junk to remove from the system.
