Ideally the less flucuation you have in temp the better. Now with that being said my tank goes from 78 at night to 80/81 during the day.

I would shoot for the 78 to 80 range or maybe 79 - 81 range. 82 is border line hot in my opinion...

Im going to have to buy either fans or leave the air in the house a little colder. Thanks for the suggestion.

I had to con Otty into coming over and installing two computer fans in my canopy. It got me down from 82/83 degrees to where I'm at now. I'm thinking about adding a clip on fan over my sump. They sell the clip on fans at Wally world, Lowe's, and Home Depot and they're not much. I'd start there if I were you.

Are you running an open top? Also what kind of lights?

Im running open top. Id imagine the temp is going up when i lower my lights 3 inches above the water (t5s) So i might get fans.
