I was at the store the other day picking up some food and a guy in front of me was in the process of picking up a new 48 inch light canopy, he paid half with a credit card and the other half cash. He then asked if he could have a new price tag attached to the box that matched the amount paid with the credit card. I think his wife drew a line somewhere and he found a workaround.

Unfortunately when I started as a teenager, I didn't have as much money, but I know that I spent more on livestock. This was before the internet, and I had like 2 books. I learned from monthly magazines and advice from a LFS(scary).

I just started back 3 months ago, and have spent roughly $2500. But that's just the initial cost. I could easily spend way more on equipment. But I have lost nothing in my tank since I started. Other than a few snails, and one jumper. (I have a lid now) So it seems the more knowledge you have and perfecting what equipment you can afford, and dialing it all in just right, I don't really plan on wasting money, like I did in the past.

    Lol,great thread!

If I added up the equipment and livestock of tanks that has come and gone, the nickle and dime stuff you pick up at walmart, the hardware store, etc.,and what I always have cooking on the back burner, lets just say i'm getting used to being broke!:)

Before I got out of the hobby about 3 years ago I had spent maybe $2k on 40g.

Now that I'm back and about 4 months in I've spent $5k+ on my 40g and $1k+ on my 6g.

Not bad for only being 20 yrs old :D
