    Hi Guys,

I just bought a 20 long for a sump and was wondering how structurally important the top trim is. I would like to cut out a corner to mount my bulkhead holder. The trim is too big. Any ideas? The tank is glass...I can get the brand if needed. Thanks!!!

i know that on glass tanks, the trim is really the only thing that holds it together, silicone will do a bit but not enough to be comfortable with if it's full of water. i really don't know how much that changes if it's used for a sump. the only way i would do it is if it is on the return end with minimal water depth and you left the other half of the trim (assuming you have a center brace but since it's a 20 i'm guessing you dont...). either way, i would be wary of taking the trim off the tank. i guess i wasn't much help....
