    how often do you change your sand bed?
    ive had my tank for almost a year and curious if I need to worry about changing the sand out?

    According to your signature, you are keeping lagoonal corals that can handle quite a few nutrients. Assuming you have decent flow, you can keep that sandbed of yours going for years and years.

    If you kept SPS corals, that would be a different story.

    I checked 6-12 months, but I only do a section at a time. About 1/4 every 6 to 12 months. I keep a mixed reef, and stir my sand weekly.:) You could definitly go longer, like Inwall says;D

    Ive had my tank for a year now and have not changed or stired my sand bed.

    you could stir the sand bed??? won't that ruin the denitrification? or it's ok to stir 1/4 to 1/2 of it weekly or bi weekly?
