how often do you clean the neck of your skimmer?

Vinnie is correct about the vinegar. But that is why I mentioned refer to your manufacturers recommendations. This is straight out of my vertex manual


Clean the pump & impeller with a mild solution of Water & vinegar, then reassemble with care. Now it is time to decalcify the pump. Place the pump in a vessel with a mild vinegar/water bath and allow the pump to run overnight. Take care that the output of the pump is not facing upwards while running to avoid any splashing or spillage on the floor..

Anyway, hope this helps. And as mentioned, refer to you Manufacturer's recommendation

 

Cup walls maybe 2/3 times week when I empty the cup, after about a inch of skimate the skimmer stops working efficiently as said earlier.

 

once a week...

 

1 every few weeks. I have a big skimmer cup. Takes 2-4 weeks to get full. Clean it every time I empty it tho.

my skimmer seems to get clogged with algae from my fuge so i need to take it out every 2-3 weeks. I also clean the neck when I do it.
