How often do you clean your skimmer.

Since I built my 240 I am using an Aqua C EV240. I cleaned it for the first time yesterday. I cleaned the collection cup and the bubble / foam tower. I was wondering how often you clean your skimmer and do you clean the bubble tower as well?

 

I cean the collection cup once a week when im dumping the skimate.
I also clean the filters and tower once every 2month so it dosent get clogged up.
If your filters are clogged, then you will produce to much skimate and not be able to adjust water flow

never have cleaned tower but the skimmer is only 4months old

Yea I was not sure if I should clean the tower but I figured it would not hurt?

 

I usually only clean the collection cup every couple of days. I have cleaned the entire skimmer once so far in about 2 months.

 

I have to clean the riser on my bullet-1 every week. I clean the collection cup once or twice a week and usually dump the waste container once a week as well.

 

Mine is not making enough yet to go down to the waste container. But the skim it is making is very dark brown and smells very bad

 

i clean the cup every couple of days I give the hole skimmer body a cleaning every two months to include the pump

 

I have never cleaned mine. I should clean the collection cup, but I have an overflow so I forget. I will never (that is the plan) clean the neck. I did that accidently once and it had to break in again.

 

i cloean mine once a week. coralife 125 ss. but if it starts to smell before that, i get TOLD to clean it. whip marks to prove it. lol. the tower ive never touched.
