How often do you clean your skimmer.

I have yet to clean my ASM either. I just empty the skim mate, then back on the skimmer it goes. I may see how it does with a cleaning sometime soon. As John said, many skimmers do not like to be cleaned, and will have to go through a period of adjustment again if you do clean them. But my ASM worked exactly like it does now from day one. My old octopus on my smaller system loved to be cleaned, and wouldnt work right when dirty.

 

I clean the neck and cup about once a week. I have a bullet 2. It always seems to foam better right after a cleaning. I also clean the injector sometimes if it seems like the airflow is lower. I can hear and see the difference if it has a particle in the injector. Normally I don't clean that though.
Sounds like different models have different needs though.

 

It is interesting how we all have great tanks yet do things just a little differnt to suit the needs of the tank. Even though I cleans the tower it is making skim mate. I will skip cleaning the tower for a month or so to see if it works better that way

 

i clean the neck and cup on my aquac ev 120 every week to week and a half. never had any problems.

 

I clean the cup and neck about once a week, but then it takes a few hours before it will start producing again.

 

I clean my cup once a week and have never cleaned the body of it in a year or so of running it. I currently run an ASM G2 on the 72.
