more or higher nutrient levels = more algae

    More algae = more cleaning

    simple enough luna?

EDIT: Oh yea and to answer the question at hand,

I clean mine every saturday, doesn't mean that it doesn't need cleaning more often just means I am to lazy.

Sand, alll I do is once in a while where it looks like it needs it I stir it up a little, "clean it" never.

1-2 times a week for glass and every 2nd or 3rd w/c I vac the dead spot in the tank were I get debris build up ,
But dont deep clean sand no more as I was told it is not good for the life forms that inhabit the sand bed.
Their is like some different organizms that inhabit the different depths of the sand maybee some one will chime in on this as im not too schooled on this topic.

It means you have high nutrients fueling the algae. Not that it's bad, but for SPS and more demanding corals it can be. po4 can inhibit the growth of SPS and will make them brown.

also in most situations, if po4 is raised so is no3.

I get a brown dust all over the glass every day. Sometimes it thin sometimes it's a little thicker.. I think I've always had nutrient problems but I'm never sure about where theyare coming from. I'm going to plug in my phos reactor and see what happens. I kinda figured that there was something wrong with me having to clean it ever day.

The sandbed too is alway growing a brown dust.... Makes it look dirty. Know what I've never posted pics of my tank. I'll do that soon, promise.... Oh I just came back from diving on the north coast. (For those that don't knwo I live in Jamaica.) I'm going to post a tread next with some pics I took while diving.
